I have a check up on Wed to see how much weight I've lost. I'm a little anxious....it's gotta be 10 lbs at least!

I've been putting in some really hard work-outs at the gym and I'm confident I'm going to see "some" result.

Had my 1 month check up today.

I've lost 16 lbs in one month. The nutritionist is a little concerned that I may be doing too much at the gym. She reccommended adding a few more recovery days in my routine.

I admit I have been working extra hard in expectation of extra results. I've basically been going nearly everyday...and some days I've gone twice (morning and evening).

I'm happy to post some success......it's inspirational for me for next month! :)

(80 more lbs to go)

Congrats! Thats awesome!

I've lost a couple more pounds but I haven't weighed myself this week. I also started attending this pain clinic/physio rehab thing, so I've been upping my workouts. I attend 2 days a week and they have me doing a routine of stretching, a couple strengthening exercises, 20mins on the treadmill and 15mins on the bike. They want to start me off slow as they are all scared of my marfans, lol. In a few weeks I start going 3 days a week. I definitely need to work on my muscle tone as I have none, lol. After the first 2 days I couldn't move I was so sore and that was from doing barely anything, only a few stretches and the cardio! I guess thats why I get for being practically bedridden or unable to exercise for 10years,lol. My muscles disappeared!

From my experience 1-2lbs is the average and the more you have to lose the bigger your losses can be at the beginning and then they will taper off as long as you are getting in enough calories and not starving your body.

Good Job!

I haven't lost too much more weight even though I'd upped my exercise by a lot. I've been attending this pain clinic/physio clinic 2x a week. They have me doing 20 mins on the treadmill, 20mins on the bike, A bunch of stretches, a couple different core exercises, and a few strengthening exercises with the rubber bands. So all that takes about 1h 30mins, 2x/week and its been 6 weeks now. I'm eating the same as I was before, so I'm not sure why I havent' lost more weight since I started to do more exercise. Although I have noticed a loss in inches. I have to use 1 notch tigher on my belt and clothes are fitting better.

I"m definitely feeling better though. I never realized how bad my conditioning had become from not being able to do any activities for so long(10years)due to my DE and pain. Now I know that part of the pain is from being so out of shape and my lack of muscle tone. But I'm finally working on it and thankfully have the clinic to help me do it safely.

Next week we up my clinic days to 3x/week. Hopefully that goes ok.

Thats awesome Degrassi,

I've constantly been challenging myself to do more and more at the gym. I can't say I'm finding things easier, but I'm certainly able to do more. If I went back to my original "day one" work-out, I would find it extremely easy.

I wonder how Melissa is doing?

Any updates?

On friday I completed my last day attending the Pain Rehab Clinic. Its been the hardest 5 months but its been worth it. I'm much more fit and healthy. Its also helped a lot with my pain. When I first started going I could barely do the stretches and a few minutes on the treadmill, then I would need 3 days to recover. But now i'm doing 2 1/2hrs, 5x week! Last week they gave me my final assessment and I was able to do 3x as much as when I started.

My cardio has improved at LOT. When I started I was barely able to do 2.4mph on the treadmill for 10mins and my heart rate was 155+ and I was barely able to catch my breath. Now i'm able to do 3.0-3.2mph with an incline of 4.5 for 25mins and my heartrate stays under 150bpm and i'm not gasping for air.

I"m now down to 228lbs(was 260lbs last year). I haven't lost too much weight since starting working out at the clinic only 10lbs since feb, but i'm much trimmer. I had to take 2 links out of my watch band since it didn't fit anymore and I'm down a few belt notches. My clothes fit much better and I now have MUSCLES!

But now its up to me to continue now that I dont' have to go to clinic every day. At least i'm motivated now that I see that it actually helps me feel better. I couldn't have done it without their help though.

So anyone else feeling better?

I've been feeling terrible. My "extensive hernias" are causing me loads of pain, problems sleeping etc etc.

I lost the momentum at the gym...summer heat, BBq's....

I have to admit.....I failed.

You haven't failed. Your just having a hard time right now.

I know how hard it can be when you are in pain and not feeling well. It makes just existing hard enough and you aren't able to do anything extra.

Don't give up though! Try to do as much as you can. If i've learned anything at pain clinic its that ever little bit counts. If you can't "work out" just try doing a little exercise at a time. A few minutes throughout the day adds up. Or maybe talk to a physiotherapist/exercise therapist about modifying a routine for you, like they did for me. Or if you can't do any exercise then just try to stick to your meal planning.

Don't give up! If you need to chat feel free to contact me.

*hugs*
